[EN] Data subject rights
How to easily comply with your subscribers’ rights
Data subject rights are, as the name suggests, the rights of the person affected by data processing towards the person responsible. In the case of email marketing, the data subjects are your newsletter subscribers.
First, we would like to give you an overview of the EU GDPR data subject rights that are particularly relevant to email marketing:
• Information obligation
• Right to information
• Right to rectification
• Right to erasure
• Right to restriction of processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to object
For our whitepaper, we have selected three areas – information, correction and deletion – and show you how easy it is to comply with these rights using the eworx Marketing Suite. The topics of “restriction of processing” and “data portability” are areas that must be handled on a very individual basis – if you have any questions on this subject, please contact our service team directly. For more information on the duty to provide information and the right to object, please refer to our GDPR Practical Guide.
How can I provide my subscribers with information about stored data?
The data subjects – i.e. your newsletter subscribers – have the right to be informed by you whether personal data about them is being processed. If such data is processed, the respective subscriber also has the right to access this personal data.
With the eworx Marketing Suite, you can easily comply with this obligation. The GDPR-compliant information report allows you to export all stored information about a subscriber with just one click and send the requested information to the data subject as a PDF file.
To do this, open the relevant person in the Subscriber Module and use the button “Generate information report” to generate an information report.

If you work with multiple accounts in the eworx Marketing Suite, you can also run this report across accounts. If a subscriber asserts their rights, you don't have to search through all your accounts individually; you can fulfil your obligation with just a few clicks. To do this, click on the Search button under “Search for subscriber” in the Subscriber module.
A search bar and a list of your Subscribers will now open. In the “Search & Show” section, you will find the link “Multi account address search”. Enter the email address of the person concerned and select the appropriate accounts. Use the “Information report acc. EU GDPR” button to export all information about the processed data of your subscriber.
According to the new regulation, the information must generally be provided free of charge and within one month. With the eworx Marketing Suite, you can easily fulfil your obligation with just a few clicks – keeping your effort to a minimum.
How can I correct my recipients' data?
The GDPR grants data subjects the right to rectification of all data processed about them. There are several ways to correct data in the eworx Marketing Suite. For example, you can manually adjust data. To do this, simply switch to the subscriber module in the eworx Marketing Suite and search for the relevant subscriber. Here you can edit all subscriber fields individually and correct the data.
If you need to correct or edit multiple subscribers, you can also use the export and import function or the bulk change function in the eworx Marketing Suite. Both options can also be found in the "Subscribers"menu.
Can subscribers correct their own data?
In addition to manual correction by you, you can offer your subscribers this functionality in every mailing. By integrating a “Change Profile” button, your susbcribers can exercise their right directly in the email campaign. If the “Change Profile” link is not integrated into your mailings by default, you can activate it in the Properties in the Campaign Editor.

In addition to standard integration in your eworx Marketing Suite template, you also have the option of integrating this function individually into your campaigns via your own link type. To do this, select the type “Buttons" and make the appropriate selection.
