[EN] Password selection & 2-factor authentication
In this whitepaper, we take a closer look at choosing a suitable password. We also show you where you can set up two-factor authentication in the eworx Marketing Suite.
Further information on activating single sign-on in the eworx Marketing Suite can be found in the following whitepaper, which explains it in detail.
Top priority for password security
We take sensitive issues such as password security, password selection and password policies very seriously in the eworx Marketing Suite. Thanks to stricter regulations and a password check, you can quickly and easily create a custom password. The security level is displayed graphically.
Where can I change my password?
In your personal user area of the eworx Marketing Suite in the upper right corner, select the option “My personal settings”. Here, under the “Change password” tab, you will find all the necessary information to change your password. To update your change, be sure to complete this process by clicking the “Save” button.
What criteria must I meet when choosing a password?
For security reasons, the following important criteria must be met when creating a password in the eworx Marketing Suite.
• The password must contain at least 12 characters
• Your password must contain at least one upper-case letter and one lower-case letter
• It must contain at least one number
How can I check the security of my password?
You can check whether your password is secure using the password check in the eworx Marketing Suite. A simple colour bar informs you about the security of your password. The “password complexity index” can be found wherever user passwords are set in the eworx Marketing Suite.
What should I do if I forget my password?
If you ever forget your password, don't worry – we have a secure process for this in the eworx Marketing Suite. Simply request a new password and you will receive an email containing a 36-digit key. You can use this to reset your password directly in the eworx Marketing Suite.
How can I further increase security when choosing my password?
Do not take password security lightly. The fact that many Internet users unfortunately use insecure passwords is confirmed time and again by the success of countless hacker attacks. A global ranking of the most insecure passwords by Splash Data shows that in 2018, the insecure passwords “123456”, “password” and “qwertz” were once again among the most common.
For your own protection, never use passwords like these!
We have summarised a few points that you should also consider when choosing a password:
- Choose your password as long as possible, because the longer it is, the more secure it is
- Also use upper case letters and lower case letters, and ideally special characters as well
- Avoid personal words or information such as the name of your pet or partner, as these can be easily found on social media accounts
- Do not use only your native language; combine your password with other languages
- Do not use the same password for different accounts
- Be careful when using other people's computers; do not select the option to save your password. It is easy to forget to log out, and the next person to use the computer could cause problems with your account
Our TIP for a secure, individual password
Think of a short sentence that is easy to remember. Take the first letter of each word and write them in upper and lower case. Add one or more numbers and/or special characters to this combination of letters and you have a perfect, individual password!
Example: A leap year has 365 days! ESh365T!
Is it possible to activate two-factor authentication in the eworx Marketing Suite?
Two-factor authentication can be activated in “Administration” (located at the top right of the user area). This setting can be found under the heading “Miscellaneous”.
Two-factor authentication is an additional security mechanism to protect the data in your eworx Marketing Suite client from unauthorised access.
If you activate 2-factor authentication, you will be asked to enter an additional key after logging in. The key is sent to the email address of the user who logged in on the login page. After entering the key, you will be redirected to the eworx Marketing Suite.
